Trip Summary:
This biking tour gives you ultimate challenge of your mental and physical state. Biking on highest plateau on Earth also called “Roof of the World” covers a distance over 1100 kilometers from the Tibetan capital, Lhasa to Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. The biking cross six high mountain passes over 5000 meters. This biking from Lhasa to Kathmandu via Everest base camp is considered as the extreme & highest biking trip in the world due to its length and the average altitude.
The tour begins with a comprehensive trip briefing in Kathmandu followed by a sensational trans Himalayan flight to Lhasa that passes over Mt. Everest and many highest peaks of the world (if you join the tour in Kathmandu). This is the only flight fly over Mt. Everest and other highest peaks. In case you wish to start the tour in Lhasa arriving from anywhere in mainland China or taking a new train from Beijing you will be briefed about the tour by your Tibetan Guide
Upon arrival in Lhasa, you will be taking for sightseeing of Lhasa visiting all the Palaces and monasteries. After proper acclimatization and final preparation you embark your biking trip driving up to Khambala pass from where biking tour.
You will pass through rugged landscapes, highest desert on Earth, sand dune, historic and archeological sites, nomadic settlements and pristine hamlets amidst spectacular views of some of world’s highest peaks. En route, you may dismount from your bike for blissful photographic moments, sightseeing of wildlife and camping. Exploring the country side is another interesting and fascinating prospect that can indeed be quite culturally stimulating. Another highlight of this biking tour is an off-road ride to northern base camp of Mount Everest at 5200 meter to appreciate awe-striking view of Mt. Everest’s northern face.
The spine-tingling world’s longest downhill biking followed by a vigorous uphill climb to 5150 meter Thang La, is certain to give you a huge adrenaline rush. Nepalese support crew containing an expert Nepalese mountain bike leader (also qualified as mechanic), cook, camping helper etc. will follow your entire biking trail in Tibet and Nepal with a 4WD Toyota Land Cruiser, a truck and a highly knowledgeable English speaking Tibetan tour guide.
