8 Days Fly In Drive Out Centre Tibet Tour

 

This overland tour gives you an opportunity to discover the real Tibet. The tour begins in Lhasa in Tibet, and ends in Kathmandu in Nepal - thus connecting the ancient and legendary capital cities.

 

In Lhasa you will spend 3/4 days adjusting to the altitude, during which time you can visit and explore the fabulous Potala Palace, Sera Monastery, Norbulingkha, Jokhang Temple, Drepung Monastery and the busy and bustling Barkhor Square

 

Having "caught your breath" you leave Lhasa in a comfortable 4WD Land Cruiser and set off along the Friendship Highway (a very well maintained road), across the vast and arid Tibetan plateau, a journey that takes you over several high mountain passes, with spectacular views of Mighty Mount Everest, Cho Oyu, Makalu & Shishapangma and the historic towns of Gyantse and Shigatse. After crossing the Nyalam you begin the steep descent to the Friendship Bridge and cross into Nepal to be met by a “BATE" representative and transfer you to Dhulikel with all its modern amenities and comforts and spending a relaxing night there before you enter Kathmandu city.

 

The tour starts with a comprehensive trip briefing in Kathmandu followed by a sensational flight to Lhasa that passes directly over Mt. Everest (try and get a left hand window seat!). 

 

In case you wish to start the tour in Lhasa arriving from anywhere in mainland China or taking the new train to Beijing, you will be briefed about the tour by your Tibetan Guide.
