Trip Summary

Popularly known as the Poon Hill Trek, relatively shorter trek when compared to the Annapurna Circuit Trek. The trek takes you through old Himalayan villages, lush forests and along the world’s deepest gorge ‘Kali Gandaki’. During the trek you will be able to view numerous mountains from the Himalayan ranges like Mt. Annapurna, Mt. Dhaulagiri, Mt. Machhapuchchhre, Mt. Manaslu and others

Detailed Itinerary:

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu: 1300m/4265ft

Arrival in Kathmandu where you will be met and transferred to Hotel just walking distance to any styles of good restaurants and shops. Our Representative will give you short briefing on hotel facilities and safety. Tonight we only have a short introduction to the area, just what you need to know before the main briefing tomorrow. Day 02: Sightseeing of World Heritage sites:

After breakfast, trek briefing will take place around 9 am. All aspects of gear and conditions are discussed to make sure you're fully prepared for the trip, and any last minute questions answered. After lunch we explore this medieval capital. We visit Boudhanath, also known as little Tibet. Then we visit Pasupatinath, holy temple of Hindu where cremation takes place by the holy river Bagmati. Later we visit Bhaktapur Durbar Square. Evening: welcome dinner hosted by Basanta Adventure. O/N in Hotel at  Kathmandu.(BB)

Day 03: Drive to Pokhara: (820m/2690ft), Lunch at Pokhara:

With a morning wake up guide will pick you up and transfer to the tourist bus station and drive (approximately seven hours with breaks) through the beautiful river view & Nepalese countryside to reach the Pokhara lakeside and transfer to the hotel and rest of the time explore the surrounding lakeside areas. Day 04: Trek to Tirkhedhunga: (1540m/5052ft), 6 hrs. Lunch at Hille:

It is one-hour drive from Pokhara to Naya Pul situated along the Modi River. You will have excellent views of waterfalls and meet friendly people along the trail. Then you will have a five hour trek to Tirkhedhunga. While walking towards Tirkhedhunga along the bank of beautiful river you can see various birds and different type of flora. O/N in Lodge at Tirkhedhunga.

Day 05: Trek to Ghorepani: (2820m/9252ft), 6 hrs.Lunch at Banthanti:

The trail continues to climb up on a stone staircase through wet temperate forests of Oak and rhododendron forests until Ghorepani. Ghorepani is one of the most popular villages along Annapurna circuit. Many trekkers who do not trek the whole circuit visit Ghorepani to view a magnificent panorama of the Himalaya peaks. Most of the habitants in this village are Magars & Gurungs. O/N in Lodge at Ghorepani.

Day 06: Early morning in Poon hill then trek to Tadapani : (2590m/8497ft), 6 hrs. Lunch at Banthanti:

Today early morning climb up to the Poonhill takes 90 minutes of hike on your pace though the rhododendron forest and spread glimpse of sunrise view and chirping sounds of birds during the early hiking. Poonhill is a great viewpoint from where we'll be able to enjoy wonderful panoramic views of the Mustang part and Pokhara valleys as well as see the more than 20 highest mountain closest views. After the magnificent view from Poon hill, you will walk through easy trail; a little steep up at the beginning, this day walking is pleasant as you cross through rhododendron forests, beautiful view of Annapurna South is visible constantly on the trail. Walk across the villages and tea house dotted on the trail gives enormous thrill feeling. O/N in Lodge at Tadapani.

Day 07: Trek to Ghandrung: (1940m/6365ft), 6 hrs. Lunch at Ghandrung:

Trek to Ghandrung leisurely. Some parts of the trail are slippery during December and January due to snow condition. Descend to Ghandrung. Ghandrung is a large Gurung village located above Modi Khola (river). This place offers excellent views of Annapapurna South, Gangapurna , Annapurna III, and Machapuchare (Fishtail) at the far reaches of the valley. There are several hotels and tea houses here. O/N in Lodge at  Ghandrunk.

Day 08: Trek to Chomrong: (3210m/10531ft), 6 hrs Lunch at Kimrong Khola: .

Next day Climb to the Kimrong-danda (hill) and make gradual descent to Kyunri Khola (river). The trail climbs to Taglung village. On the way you get excellent view of Annapurna South and Putha Hiunchuli to the North West and Annaurna III and Machapuchare to the north east. Descend to the river and follow the level path to Chumrung. The trail rounds a bend and enters the upper part of Chumrung, a Gurung village, where we spend the night. Chumrung is a large village that is spread along a huge stone staircase, which drops to the Chumrung Khola. O/N in Lodge at Chomrong.

Day 09: Trek to Landrung: (1640m/5381ft), 6 hrs.Lunch at New Bridge

To continue with our trek after breakfast we start moving towards Landrung which will take a complete 4 hours of trekking. On our way to Landrung we first climb the Jhinu Danda at 1750m then cross the river at Shiuli. After few minutes of trekking then we finally reach Landrung. This will be your last night with your trekking crew except trekking Guide. Trekking crew will organize a farewell ceremony, Nepali song and dance, staff members will be allowed to drink to join the party. You may want to try local drink called “Rakshi”, please be aware; it does not taste good and is very strong. O/N in Lodge at Landrung.

Day 10: Trek back to Pokhara: (820m/2690ft), Lunch at Pokhara:

We are now down to the Modi Khola and from here it is an easy and pleasant walk along the river bank to Birethanti at 1065m. We walk a short distance to the road head at Naya Pul, where we are picked up by our transport and driven back to Pokhara. The journey by road takes approx. 2 hours and we arrive back in Pokhara by early afternoon, on time to refresh ourselves in the hotel before spending a night in Pokhara. Day 11: Sightseeing in Pokhara:

Pokhara is the most popular destination for visitors to Nepal. The natural beauty of its lakeside location and its proximity to the mountains has made in the natural choice for trekkers and adventures.
Here you have optional Sightseeing, visit to Gorkha Museum, International Mountain museum, Paragliding, Ultra light flight, Zip line. O/N in Hotel at Pokhara.(BB)

Day 12: Drive back to Kathmandu:

Today we'll have an early morning drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu in a clean & comfortable Tourist Coach. It will take 6-7 hrs to drive. We'll reach Kathmandu late afternoon then enjoy our night at Thamel. Upon arrival, any hired gears will be collected and your international flight tickets will be distributed. O/N in Hotel at Kathmandu.(BB)

Day 13: Day at leisure:

This pleasant day you may have full day at leisure and either relax at hotel
