Trip Summary:

The Mustang Trek is an experience to be had at least once in your lifetime. The trek explores the ancient kingdom of Mustang which lies between Tibet and the Himalayas. The trekking route to Mustang is crowded with vast barren landscapes and imposing canyons and arid valleys, famously dubbed as the ‘desert in the mountain’.

In Lo Manthang you will find the same families who have been living for hundreds of years and crumbling Tibetan monasteries that have served the religious needs of this ancient kingdom.

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu: 820m/2692ft

Arrival in Kathmandu where you will be met and transferred to Hotel, just walking distance to any styles of good restaurants and shops. Our Representative will give you short briefing on hotel facilities and safety. Tonight we only have a short introduction to the area, just what you need to know before the main briefing tomorrow. Day 02: Sightseeing of World Heritage sites in Kathmandu:

After breakfast, trek briefing will take place around 9 am. All aspects of gear and conditions are discussed to make sure you're fully prepared for the trip, and any last minute questions answered. After lunch we explore this medieval capital. We visit Boudhanath, also known as little Tibet. Then we visit Pasupatinath, holy temple of Hindu where cremation takes place by the holy river Bagmati. Later we visit Bhaktapur Durbar Square. Evening: welcome dinner hosted by Basanta Adventure. O/N at Hotel  in Kathmandu (BB)

Day 03: Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara valley: 823m/2700ft, 7-8 hours drive: Lunch at Mungling

With a morning wake up guide will pick up you and transfer to the tourist bus station and drive (approximately seven hours with breaks) through the beautiful river view & Nepalese countryside to reach the Pokhara lakeside and transfer to the hotel and rest of the time explore the surrounding lakeside areas. Day 04: Pokhara-Jomsom to Kagbeni: 2858/9374ft, 3-4 hours walk: Lunch at Ekle-bhatti (Full Board)

After an early breakfast transfer to the airport for a morning flight to Jomsom, a super scenic flight of 20 minutes brings you at Jomsom, the district headquarter of Mustang. A large town and a headquarter of the Mustang region; it is also a major village on the Kaligandaki area linking the age old Trans-Himalayan Salt Trade route to Tibet. From Jomsom onwards it is very windy in the afternoon, From Jomsom trek continues on the gradual path on the Kali Gandaki river bed for about 3 hrs and finally reaching at Ekle-bhatti village. After good stop here an hour of easy walk reaches you to Kagbeni, which lies at the bank of two rivers. Kagbeni, an interesting wind swept villages situated on the main age old Trans Himalayan salt trade route to Tibet via Upper Mustang area. On arrival, check in the Lodge with afternoon free for a stroll around the village. O/N at Lodge in Kagbeni (AP)


Day 05: Kagbeni to Chele: 3050m/10004ft, 5-6 hours walk: Lunch at Chuksang (Full Board)

Our journey starts with a special permit check up and onwards to the riverbank of Kaligandaki up stream. During the walk we have scenic picturesque place to stop through the sandy and windy trails. This trails follows the up and downhill. Firstly we'll reach at Tangbe village with crops field. From here we trek forward to Chuksang after ½ hour walk and crossing the river head up to the huge red chunk of conglomerate that has fallen from the cliff above, forming a tunnel through which the Kaligandaki follows. We head on to small ridges reach at Chele village after 18 kilometers for overnight at basic teahouses with a Tibetans life style. O/N at Lodge in Chele (AP)


Day 06: Chele to Syangboche: 3475m/11398ft, 6-7 hours walk: Lunch at Samar (Full Board)

Today, we start our trek again and walk further to Ekle Vatti. We'll climbs to Taklam La Pass (3,624m/11,923 ft) through plateaus and narrow stretches with views of Tilicho Peak, Yakawa Kang, Nilgiri and Damodar Danda. Further descends a little to the village of Samar for our lunch. Further walk around 3 hrs similar walk will reach you at Syangboche after 8 kilometers for the overnight. Day 07: Syangboche to Ghaymi: 3520m/11546ft, 5-6 hours walk: Lunch at Ghiling (Full Board)

After breakfast we trek uphill to the Yamda La (3,850m /12,667ft) passing few teahouses, chorten and local villages which is like Tibetan style of houses with open Varanda, and crosses over a few other passes. The longer climb will be to Nyi Pass (4,010m/13,193ft) after lunch, we descend to our overnight stop at Ghaymi after 12 kilometers walk. O/N at Guest House in Ghaymi (AP)


Day 08: Ghaymi to Charang: 3500m/11480ft, 4-5 hours walk: Lunch at Charang (Full Board)

We start you trek after breakfast with a pleasant walk and easily get to the Charang for the overnight. After crossing Ghaymi Khola, the trail climbs to a plateau and passes beside a very long Mani wall (Secret stone wall of the Buddhism). From the end of the wall the trail heads east to Charang after 11 kilometers up and down to get to our teahouse for tonight stop. O/N at Lodge in Charang (AP)


Day 09: Charang to Lo-Manthang: 3700m/12136ft, 5-6 hours walk: Lunch at Lo-Manthang (Full Board)

Today, we trek to Lo-Manthang with a magnificent view of Nilgiri, Tilicho, Annapurna I and Bhrikuti peak. The trail first descends to Tsarang Chu Canyon and then climbs steeply after crossing the river. Further the trail ascends gently to the 3,850m windy pass of Lo, from where you can see the Lo-Manthang Valley. While descending to Lo-Manthang, views of the walled city appear magnificent with its hills on the Tibetan Border. We stay at teahouse for the overnight stop. Day 10: Explore the Lo-Manthang: (Full Board)

Today you may have many choices to explore the surrounding areas. Visit Namgyal Gompa and Tingkhar. Namgyal Gompa situates on a hilltop, which serves as an important monastery of the local community and also as a local court. After visiting Namgyal Gompa continue the tour to Tingkhar, which is a village of around 40 houses, the last main village to the northwest of Lo-Manthang and stroll back to hotel. Or you may have another option to visit the Tall Champa Lakhang "God house" the red Thugchen Gompa, Chyodi Gompa and the Entrance Hal which are the main attraction of this town. Another attraction is the four- story building of the Raja's palace as well as the surrounding panoramic views of the Himalaya. The interesting place where you may not tired to explore more and more. There are many places to explore and manage your time to explore the places. Every monastery requires the donations and entry fees which is made by your own. O/N at Resort in Lo-Manthang (AP)


Day 11: Lo-Manthang to Charang: 3500m/11480ft, 4-5 hours walk: Lunch at Ghar Gompa (Full Board)F

After a wonderful time at Lo-Manthang we trek to back to Ghar Gompa which is also interesting place to explore the local area takes 4-5 hrs. During the walk you'll suffer the dusty wind and as suggested to walk in the morning. O/N at Lodge in Charang (AP)


Day 12: Ghar Gompa to Ghiling: 3806m/12484ft, 5-6 hours walk: Lunch at Ghaymi (Full Board)

Today, we will back to Ghiling as our journey for our overnight stay after a long walk takes 5-6 hrs. After arrival and lunch enjoy the day explore the area but it will be dusty better to walk in evening time. O/N at ShangrGuesthouse OR similar in Ghiling (AP)


Day 13: Ghiling to Chuksang: 3050m/10004ft, 5-6 hours walk: Lunch at Chele (Full Board)

We re-track back to Chele for the overnight stop after 5 hrs walk. You will have wonderful scenery during the journey with a Himalayan view. Enjoy your trip and overnight at teahouse. O/N at Lodge in Chuksang (AP)


Day 14: Chuksang to Jomsom: 2700/8856ft, 6-7 hours walk: Lunch at Kagbeni (Full Board)

Today, we will have a last day trek as well as long. It is better to walk early start as before and trek to Kagbeni finished the upper Mustang trails and join to the normal as Annapurna circuit trek. After lunch at Kagbeni will head on to Jomsom for the overnight stop. This will be your last night with your trekking crew except trekking Guide. Trekking crew will organize a farewell ceremony, Nepali song and dance, staff members will be allowed to drink to join the party. You may want to try local drink called “Rakshi”, please be aware; it does not taste good and is very strong. O/N at Guest House in Jomsom (AP)


Day 15: Fly from Jomsom to Pokhara: 820m/2692ft (BB)

This wonderful morning, after breakfast we check in the airport to fly back to Pokhara. This is a dramatic flight between gorge of the two huge mountains Annapurna and Dhaulagiri. On arrival at Pokhara airport guide will transfer to the lakeside hotel. Rest of the time explores the lake and overnight at hotel. O/N at Hotel in Pokhara (BB)


Day 16: Sightseeing at Pokhara: (BB)

Pokhara is the most popular destination for visitors to Nepal. The natural beauty of its lakeside location and its proximity to the mountains has made in the natural choice for trekkers and adventures.
Here you have optional Sightseeing, visit to Gorkha Museum, International Mountain museum, Paragliding, Ultra light flight, Zip line. O/N in Hotel at Pokhara.(BB)


Day 17: Drive back to Kathmandu: 7hours drive (BB)

Today we'll have an early morning drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu in a clean & comfortable Tourist Coach. It will take 6-7 hrs to drive. We'll reach Kathmandu late afternoon then enjoy our night at Thamel. Upon arrival, any hired gears will be collected and your international flight tickets will be distributed. Day 18: Day at leisure:

This pleasant day you may have full day at leisure and either relax at hotel
