ABC Trek Overview
The 14-day Annapurna Sanctuary Trek, also known as the Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) Trek, is a journey into the heart of one of Nepal’s most spectacular Himalayan landscapes, reaching 4,130 metres (13,549 ft). Surrounded by iconic peaks including Annapurna I, Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), Annapurna South and Hiunchuli, the trek brings together breathtaking nature, rich mountain culture and the warmth of local communities.
At Basanta Adventure, we believe the experience is as important as reaching the destination. Our team uses 25+ years of extensive research and experience to thoughtfully design each journey to offer the right balance of adventure, comfort, personal attention, and authentic local experiences.
Your journey begins in Pokhara, a beautiful city nestled beneath Machhapuchhre and surrounded by lakes and mountain landscapes. A scenic drive through villages and terraced farmland leads to the trailhead. The trail then winds through bamboo, pine, and rhododendron forests, traditional Gurung villages, and diverse mountain landscapes before reaching Machhapuchhre Base Camp and the spectacular Annapurna Sanctuary.
Along the way, we encourage you to experience Nepal beyond the trail. You will enjoy freshly cooked Dal Bhat Tarkari, which translates to rice, lentils, and seasonal curry, Nepal’s beloved everyday meal; meet local families; discover the traditions and hospitality of mountain communities; and visit villages with a proud connection to the world-famous Gurkha soldiers. These simple encounters often become some of the most memorable moments of the journey.
Our established local team carefully manages the itinerary, logistics, accommodation, safety, and pacing, while giving you time to enjoy the journey at your own rhythm. We promote our values of responsible, respectful, and meaningful travel, creating positive connections with local communities and the natural environment.
Our aim is not simply to take you to Annapurna Base Camp, but to create an immersive, meaningful, and transformational journey of a lifetime.

The route climbs through the Himalayas and Hinku Cave before reaching Deurali, the final overnight stop before entering the Annapurna Sanctuary. As you walk higher, the vegetation begins to change, with dense forests gradually giving way to alpine landscapes and impressive mountain surroundings.
One of the highlights of today’s journey is passing through Hinku Cave, a natural rock formation located along the trail. The area provides a dramatic atmosphere with cliffs, rushing rivers, and towering peaks surrounding the valley.

Upon reaching Deurali, you will notice a significant change in the environment. The mountain scenery becomes more open, the air becomes cooler, and the Himalayan peaks appear closer than ever. From Chhomrong, the trail continues toward Jhinu Danda. After reaching the village and settling into your teahouse, you can take a short walk downhill to the natural hot springs located beside the Modi Khola River.
Enjoy the hot springs, the main attraction of Jhinu Danda. The warm mineral-rich water provides the perfect way to relax your tired muscles after several days of trekking. Sitting beside the river while surrounded by Himalayan landscapes creates a memorable ending to the trekking portion of your Annapurna Sanctuary Trek.
This will be the last night with our trekking crew except the trekking Guide; this is the best time to tip the staff (not compulsory but it’s customary), an impromptu little ceremony, and always enormous Sherpa smiles. Then something of a party is inevitable. Try a local drink called “Rakshi”; please be aware: it does not taste good and is very strong.
