Trip Summary:

This Kala Patthar & Gokyo Trek Package is designed for trekkers who want more than the standard Everest Base Camp route. It combines the quieter Gokyo Lakes valley, a crossing of Cho La Pass, and the classic sunrise climb of Kala Patthar in one complete Everest journey.

The trek usually takes around 14–16 days, starting and ending in Kathmandu with flights to Lukla. You’ll stay in local tea houses throughout the trek, with acclimatization days built into the itinerary and full support from licensed guides and porters.

This route suits fit beginners and intermediate trekkers who are comfortable with long walking days and higher altitude, and who prefer lodge-based trekking rather than camping.

By the end of this page, you should have a clear idea whether this combined Gokyo and Kala Patthar trek fits your fitness level, time frame, and expectations.

Trip Overview:

This trek links two of the most famous viewpoints in the Everest region:

  • Gokyo Ri, overlooking the Gokyo Lakes

  • Kala Patthar, near Everest Base Camp

The typical route follows:
Kathmandu – Lukla – Namche Bazaar – Gokyo – Cho La Pass – Lobuche / Gorakshep – Kala Patthar – Lukla
(Exact overnight stops may vary.)

You’ll stay in tea houses along the trail. Rooms are simple, usually twin-sharing, with shared facilities. Meals are available at the lodges. Acclimatization days are included to help your body adjust to altitude.

This is not a technical climb. However, the altitude, length of the trek, and Cho La Pass crossing make it more demanding than a standard Everest Base Camp trek.

Who This Trek is for:

  • Trekkers who want both Gokyo Lakes and Kala Patthar in one trip

  • Strong beginners and intermediate hikers with good fitness

  • Travelers who prefer tea house trekking over camping

  • Those interested in quieter valleys and multiple viewpoints
